This group will be traveling to Nicaragua on Sunday, July 19. We have a few middle school students going, along with their parents and a few other adults. Please keep all of them in your prayers as they take this giant leap of faith. Pray that they make a huge difference for Christ in the lives of those they will serve in Nicaragua, and encourage them as their hearts, and their lives, are changed because of this experience.
Autumn Berger I started attending Ginger Creek three years ago after being hired as the Kindergarten teacher for GingerCare. In the last year I began assisting with the Salt Company leadership and volunteering with the youth ministries. Having the opportunity to go to Nicaragua will be life-changing for me. I’m anxious to meet the people there, worship with them, and use my gift and passion for teaching to impact the lives of the children.
Dan Dicke I’ve been a tennis pro – the teaching kind, not the playing kind – for 20 years, and it’s an amazing career. I found Ginger Creek through my dream girl, Dina, a few months ago. Before that, I was not a regular at any church – ever. Ginger Creek has inspired me the way I always felt that church should. When I heard about the Nicaragua trip, it was as if someone has offered me an ice cream cone on a hot day – it was a quick “Yes!” I can’t wait for the trip, and I’m very excited to see the lasting impact I know it’ll have on my life.
Allen Gilchrist I’ve been a member of Ginger Creek since 2003. After joining the church, I began volunteering and worshiping with Salt and Light Company youth. I’m often seen as a “big kid,” so I fit right in. I enjoy spending time developing relationships with the students and watching them grow in their faith. God has done miraculous things in my life, and having this opportunity to go to Nicaragua is a blessing. I really look forward to sharing God’s word with the kids there.
Dina Klancir I began coming to Ginger Creek in December 2008. I’m a school counselor, and this will be my first time going to Nicaragua. I feel very blessed to be part of a church that strives to serve others, and I’m excited to have this opportunity. As soon as I heard about this trip, I felt God tugging at my heart to go. When my boyfriend, Dan, felt the same calling, we knew it was something we needed to do together. I know my life will be changed by this awesome experience.
Caleb Peery I’m a 7th grader at Rotolo Middle School in Batavia, and I am very excited to go to Nicaragua. I think it will be a good experience and it will be fun to do God’s work. I hope to help many people.
Von Peery I serve on the Missions team, in the two-year-old room in Adventureland, on the IT tech team, and as a community group leader. My wife Jan and I have been married for 16 years and have been blessed with three great kids. I’m glad Caleb gets to go with me on my second trip to Nicaragua to see the work God is doing in His world.
Brittany Roy I’m 14 years old and going into 8th grade. I really enjoyed meeting Pastor Maria earlier this year and am looking forward to visiting her church. I’ve served at Hesed House, Feed My Starving Children and in The Land. I attended Light Company’s first missions trip last summer and am excited to share my faith with the people of Nicaragua while learning more about them and the way they live.
Rebecca Roy I’m 11 years old and going into 8th grade next year. I serves on Light Company’s worship team, attended the mission trip last summer, and have served at Feed My Starving Children multiple times. I’m most looking forward to worshiping at the church on the mountain, building relationships and friendships with the children there, and hope to have an opportunity to assist in serving the Feed My Starving Children food.
Jennifer Roy I’ve attended Ginger Creek since 2004 and serve as the Director of Light Company. After going to Nicaragua in January, I am very excited to be returning with some of our middle school students and parents. My experience in January changed me, and I’m anxious to see how this trip will transform our students. Their heart for serving others and their joy and excitement in preparing is amazing. I’m so blessed to have the opportunity to travel with them and to have the support of my husband Scott and my youngest daughter, Elizabeth. When I’m not hanging out with the middle schoolers, I work full-time as a mortgage loan officer for Bank of America, homeschool our three daughters, and volunteer with 4-H.
Aidan Williamson I’m a homeschool student and I will be in 8th grade in the fall. I like to play basketball and baseball, and I also like acting. Both of my parents have been to Nicaragua, so I’ve seen a lot of pictures and heard a lot of stories. I can’t wait to have pictures and stories of my own! I’m excited to help the people there, especially the kids.
Marcia Williamson I serve as Ginger Creek’s Global Missions Director. I’m married to Kevin Williamson, the Financial Administrator for Ginger Creek. We have five kids: four boys and one princess, I mean, girl. I’ve been part of Ginger Creek since 1988. This will be my fourth trip to Nicaragua. The people of Nicaragua have captured my heart and I’m very excited and blessed to be able to do something I love so much!
